Kaph: The Hand That Grasps Destiny

The letter Kaph relates to the opposites of wealth and poverty, fortune and misfortune, expansion and contraction. These are not only outer financial conditions but also inner states of consciousness. Wealth represents the expanded grasp of Self, opportunity, and creative participation. Jupiter expands whatever it touches. If the mind is ruled by faith, wisdom, generosity, and vision, Jupiter expands opportunity. How we see ourselves influences what we attract, reject, fear, pursue, and become. Therefore, the Wheel asks:

What identity are you feeding?
What pattern are you repeating?
What future are you helping the Wheel weave?

Destiny is not a prison. It is a pattern. When consciousness changes, the pattern can change.

The Kerubic Beasts: Fixed Signs of the Zodiac

On the Rider-Waite-Smith Wheel of Fortune card, the four winged beings in the corners are the Kerubic or Cherubic emblems: Bull, Lion, Eagle, and Man. These are the same sacred creatures mentioned in Ezekiel and Revelation, and they correspond to the four fixed signs of the zodiac:

The serpent descending on the opposite side represents the involution of cosmic force into matter. In some Hermetic interpretations, this is the descent of radiant energy into form. Spirit becomes experience. Energy becomes embodiment. The invisible becomes visible.

Together, these figures show the full cycle: descent into matter, evolution through experience, and the witnessing Soul above the turning Wheel.

The Alchemical Wheel
